Redeemer Christian Wisdom Series with Rev. David Petersen
Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lawrence, Kansas warmly invites you to the 4th Annual Redeemer Christian Wisdom Series, held September 10 through 12, 2026. This year’s speaker is Rev. Dr. David Petersen, who will teach on the timely topic, “Ministry and Discipline in the Midst of a Digital Age.” This gathering is designed to serve Christians, families, students, pastors, and neighbors who desire faithful Lutheran teaching for real life in a complicated world.

The Christian Wisdom Series is not simply an academic lecture event. Our digital age has brought many gifts, including communication, learning, and access to helpful resources. Yet it has also brought new burdens, distraction, loneliness, shallow attention, constant comparison, and a weakened ability to live patiently before God and neighbor. Christians need wisdom to navigate these tools without being mastered by them.
This year’s theme will help participants think about ministry, discipline, attention, and Christian formation in a world shaped by screens and speed. The Church does not answer modern problems by panic or nostalgia. Instead, she returns again to Christ, to Holy Scripture, to prayer, to worship, to confession, and to the ordered life of love that flows from the Gospel.
Rev. Dr. David Petersen has served at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana since 2000. He studied at Central Michigan University, served in the Army National Guard, and continued his theological education at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, earning the M.Div., STM, and D.Min. degrees. His service to the Church has included teaching, writing, conference speaking, and work with pastors and laity across Lutheran circles.
Rev. Petersen is known for careful theological thought joined to pastoral clarity. His writings are practical and deeply pastoral, helping Christians interpret the world from a Lutheran perspective. That combination makes him especially well suited to address the challenges of Christian discipline and ministry in the digital age.
