Redeemer Joins the LWML KS District Convention

This past weekend, several of us from Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lawrence, Kansas had the joy of attending the 2026 Kansas District Lutheran Women’s Missionary League convention. We came home grateful, encouraged, and genuinely refreshed by time spent with faithful Lutheran women from across the district, all gathered around the Word of God and the shared work of supporting missions in Christ’s name.

The convention’s theme, “Bear Fruit,” drawn from John 15:16, was especially fitting. The Lord’s words remind us that Christian fruit is never self generated moral achievement. It is the fruit that grows from being chosen by Christ, joined to Him, and sustained by His gifts. That theme framed the weekend with the right theology, mission is not a pressure campaign, it is the Church living out what she already is, Christ’s people, sent into the world with His mercy.

Redeemer was thankful for the opportunity to share about campus ministry and the work the Lord is doing through our college and young adult community in Lawrence. In particular, we had wonderful conversations about the Crimson and Blue Lutheran Crew, a group of college students and young adults who gather as a “home away from home” for faith, fellowship, food, and joy in Christ. We spoke with many women who have a deep love for the next generation, and their questions were thoughtful, their encouragement sincere, and their interest real. It was a reminder that campus ministry is not the work of one congregation alone. It is a shared concern of the whole Church, because the students sitting in our pews today are often the future parents, church workers, and faithful lay leaders of tomorrow.

One of the great gifts of LWML, at its best, is that it keeps “mission” concrete. It is prayer offered with names attached. It is encouragement given face to face. It is generosity that may look small in a single moment, yet becomes substantial over time. The Kansas District convention materials speak directly to this larger purpose, gathering to be uplifted by God’s Word, strengthened in Christ, and equipped to support mission work together.

So, from Redeemer Lutheran Church, a heartfelt thank you. Thank you to the ladies who listened so attentively, asked such helpful questions, and showed real support for what is happening with our students and young adults in Lawrence. Thank you for your time, your prayers, and your generosity. And thank you for reminding us, by your example, that the Lord often bears fruit through ordinary faithfulness, through women who love Christ, love His Church, and quietly keep showing up.

Please keep praying for our campus ministry and our students. And if you are a member of Redeemer, consider how you might encourage a student, invite one into your home for a meal, or simply learn a name and say hello on Sunday. That, too, is fruit that abides.
